Prep Cook AM – Full-Time Position

Merriman’s Honolulu is seeking a full-time Prep Cook to support our culinary team in Ward Village.
We focus on quality without pretentiousness and work to create dining experiences that feel fun, festive, and memorable. 

What You’ll Do

  • Cut foods as specified by standardized recipes

  • Read and follow recipes with accuracy and consistency

  • Pre-weigh, measure, and package foods for later use by Line Cooks

  • Prepare sauces, dressings, batters, and other handcrafted items according to standardized recipes

  • Bake or cook certain food items for later use by Line Cooks

  • Sanitize the prep area, manage trash, and complete daily cleaning tasks assigned by the Chef

  • Keep your station clean, organized, and safe at all times

  • Assist others as needed and contribute positively to the team

  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks during busy shifts

  • Strong safety awareness and ability to safely use kitchen tools and equipment

  • Clear communication and active listening skills

  • Team-first attitude and ability to follow direction from supervisors

  • Friendly, neat, and well groomed

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift at least 25 lbs, and work in confined spaces

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy, moderately noisy environment that can become crowded and hot

  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (non-slip shoes, long pants, back belt when lifting over 25 lbs, safety glove when using a mandolin)

  • Frequent bending, squatting/kneeling, climbing stairs or step ladders, and pushing/pulling kitchen loads
