· Employee Meals
Every employee is entitled to a meal with each shift worked.
· Uniforms
We provide uniform jackets annually for the cooks and ties and aprons for the servers.
· Restaurant Closures
Merriman's Restaurant in Waimea is closed on Christmas Day and Annual Summer Employee Party.
· Education
Employees may request participation in various forms of on going education. In addition to our scholarship programs, our staff frequently attend seminars, go to cooking classes, and recieve support toward post secondary education.
There are frequent wine tastings provided in-house to educate employees about our changing wine menu. Also keeping our employees up-to-date are free Big Island wine seminars, featuring educators and wine tastings from around the world.
· Special Event Participation
Staff members are encouraged to become involved in numerous special events throughout the year. From a fund raising dinner to that is the First time Ever, 100% Hawaii products, to dinners in private celebrity homes, to collecting money for the food bank, ample opportunity to give back to the community is always present.

Summertime Ohana Picnic - Merriman's employees & families are invited to BBQ and fun outdoor, team building activities and live music.
Christmas Party with sit down dinner, recognition awards ceremony, gift exchange and dancing.

We encourage input from our staff in all business decision making; from furniture selection, menu changes, uniform decisions but no limited to the physical plant. Our staff has an opportunity to contribute to policy and procedures to guide the company.
