Merriman's Celebrates 20th Anniversay Merriman's Waimea Raises more than $20,000 for Island Non-Profits

Kamuela, Hawaii --More than $20,000 was recently distributed to island non-profits during Merriman's Waimea "20 Nights for 20 Non-profits," a fundraising event in celebration of the restaurant's 20th Anniversary.

    • Hale 'Aina 'Ohana -- proceeds to support the 'Ohana's mission to provide Hawaii's culinary students access to cutting-edge knowledge & technicques through educational workshops and visiting culinary experts.

    • University of Hawai'i at Hilo Annual Golf Scholarship Tournament -- supports annual scholarships to help ease the increasing financial burden of a college education.

    • Habitat for Humanity Kona -- benefit new homes for the needy

    • United Island United Way -- to help support 35 other nonprofit agencies on Hawai'i Island, which in turn provides support for 39 health and human service programs.

    • Adult Friends for Youth -- to provide therapeutic prevention and mental health programs for high-risk youth for 21 years to break the cycle of violence, despair and unhealthy lifestyles that often passed on to generation to generation.

    • Ho'okumu Society of North Hawaii Community Hospital -- benefit the NHCH for regular unrestricted needs, such as, electricity, water and telephone bills and equipment purchases for wheelchairs, linens and IV poles.

    • Waimea Family YMCA -- proceeds to help maintain the YMCA Park, aids under-privileged youths and other worthy causes.

    • North Hawaii Hospice -- funds towards service to patients and their families.

    • American Heart Association -- support for AHA to reduce death and disability cardiovascular disease and stroke.
